About This Project

Hudson River Home Renee Byers, Landscape Architect, P.C. has completed the Hudson River Home, a perfect example of a landscape that incorporates nature and refined design in the scenic Greenwich area. This remarkable transformation began with the opportunity to blend the home's natural topography with the homeowner's desire for an inviting outdoor experience. Working with the client, we created a multi-tiered garden that flows and cascades towards the river, using native stone walls that are made from local granite. The stone provides wonderful depth and structure while also protecting the structure from erosion. We selected plants that are drought-tolerant perennials and ornamental grasses that provide year-long beauty and interest while also not needing much maintenance. One of the challenges of the was addressing the uneven surfaces of the backyard. To work around this challenge we carefully addressed it by consulting grading and drainage. This made the property more accessible and directed water away from the house, protecting the foundations and increasing the lifespan of the landscaping features. Our efforts led to the successful conclusion of a picturesque outdoor space with a gentle water feature, sun-filled reclaimed wood patio, and a meandering path that encourages exploration. The effect of the ambient lighting adds to the remarkable planting and architecture giving the property a magical atmosphere to enjoy when friends and family gather in the evenings. The Hudson River Home has fulfilled and exceeded the homeowners expectations! The designers truly created an outdoor sanctuary that stretched their lifestyle into the natural beauty of the Hudson River Valley. Best of all, the design showcased the quality, sustainable materials, and creative design of Renee Byersa nod to her expertise and mastery as one of the leading landscape architects in the Greenwich area.
