About This Project

Westchester Country Home: balance of ecology and sophistication Completed by Renee Byers, Landscape Architect, P.C., the Westchester Country Home exemplifies the artistry and precision our work encompasses. Set amongst tranquil fields in Greenwich, this residence showcases how modernity can coexist with nature. The began with a large underused yard, and the design process transformed the space into an outdoor oasis, a place where the architecture of the home could reside comfortably whilst juxtaposing immensely with its surroundings. The team designed a functional space with an incredible palette of native plants, thoughtful selection of materials, and the presence of elements based on tradition of hardscaping to make a cohesive outdoor garden. Some of the most stunning features included a sweet koi pond, amazing stone pathways, and a sizable outdoor floor plan for entertaining which included a custom built fire pit. The patio and the terrace areas, were done in locally quarried bluestone to create durability that would look like it belonged as part of the property’s owner’s landscape. Learning that the back yard had some poor drainage, we helped to create a grading solution, and helped to install a rain garden that visually increased the ecological performance of the site. The process ensured success of the elements within the landscape by creating an opportunity for life even during high rain periods. The landscape is exceptional and engaged all of the homeowner's senses, a truly soothing and restorative space for not only the family’s relaxation but also social gatherings. To ensure the space engaged all months of the season, careful selection of different planting types were used. Renee Byers and team are proud to bring their vision to fruition and create a landscape that was also purposeful to meet the needs of the clients in maintaining the property, and ability to create beauty around the new Westchester Country Home. The design lays the foundations for a garden, one of quality, sustainability, and appreciation for nature that will be cherished for years to come.
