Introducing our most recent 'Backyard retreat' in the inner suburbs of stockton, showcasing some of our quality, fresh and innovative landscaping. The vision for this started as having a safe space to retreat and to enjoy oneself without the need to go elsewhere to do this! We began with a difficult site on a slope, and our team masterfully designed a tiered garden configuration that gave defined character and functionality to a space that could have been flat and bland. Stone Retaining Walls: All stone retaining walls utilize locally sourced stone, providing a durable wall that blends naturally into the surroundings. At the heart of this retreat is a beautifully designed, sustainably built cedar wood gazebo providing not only shade but also a meeting point. We then planted a mix of native shrubs and perennial flowers around the gazebo that are tough, colorful, and seasonal. A sinuous flagstone path directs visitors around the garden, culminating at a seasonal fire pit with loungey seating for, presumably, star-gazing evenings. We also added soft LED lighting where appropriate to highlight focal features with a warm, welcoming glow, but energy efficient as well. Our biggest challenge was dealing with drainage as the slope; however our team created an excellent drainage system that not only handled the issue but fed the new plantings at the same time! The end result has been a functional and aesthetically pleasing space that we were pleased to be able to give our clientsa small escape from the daily grind. This 'Backyard Retreat' is more than a garden, it's a memory maker and a true testament of artistry and attention to detail by Britney O'Donnell Garden Design.
