Woven Plains by Surroundings Studio Located in the tranquil beauty of Santa Fe, the 'Woven Plains' by Surroundings Studio captures the essence of nature and art. Through our unique approach to landscape design, we brought together a thoughtful selection of native plants, colorful stone pathways, and adaptable outdoor living spaces for contemplation and interaction with the stunning New Mexican landscape. The Woven Plains commenced with a thorough evaluation of the site, which allowed our team to recognize existing concerns with sloped terrain and useable drainage. We effectively managed slope and drainage problems with a conscientious grading plan that improved water management and normalized the aesthetic flow of the landscape. The garden features a collection of drought-tolerant plants, including wildflowers found in the deserts of New Mexico and hardy shrubs that do well in the local conditions, attracting pollinators. Because continuity is an essential design consideration, we constructed a landscape using natural stone pavers in warm tones to create elongated pathways throughout the vegetation. Our seating features were made from sustainable timber sources to further enhance these intimate spaces. Another prominent characteristic of Woven Plains is the eye-catching dry creek bed that mimics the direction of water flow and helps manage stormwater runoff. This aspect is effective for the demands of the design and promotes additional artistry where the celebration of nature intersects human creativity. In summary, the created a beautiful outdoor space beyond the client’s expectations. The layering of plant life, material, and design offered a cohesive experience for the viewers, expressing the charm of the home; the perfect space for the family to socialize or simply be one with the environment. The client was extremely pleased with the end result and the described balance of beauty and sustainability of the Woven Plains .
