About This Project

Summary: Santa Fe Mountain Residence Situated on an incredible site in Santa Fe, the Santa Fe Mountain Residence is an example of Surroundings Studio's goal to create outdoor spaces that are complementary to the natural landscape. This residential landscape was purposefully designed to integrate with the bespoke architecture of the home, while embracing the unique high-desert ecosystem. Noteworthily, the residence includes a purposefully designed native plant garden with many drought-tolerant plants to support sustainability and low maintenance. Locally sourced stone was used for paths and walls, an installation that befittingly integrated the architecture with the rugged mountain terrain. The site posed a challenge, as it had varying elevation levels, which we efficiently used to our advantage in designing tiered gardens and engaging boulders to manage drainage and add visual interest. The outdoor living room was intended as a retreat space and includes a custom fire-pit with natural seating - an ideal setting to entertain friends and family beneath the stars. As well, we included a water feature that produced pleasant sounds to relax and reflect by. Surroundings Studio prides itself on quality craft and detail which the Santa Fe Mountain Residence embodies the moment the doors were lifted and the transition was completed, meeting (and exceeding) our clients’ expectations to elevate their vision into a stunning reality. The result of this landscape is a functional and beautiful outdoor environment that can be enjoyed and used by family for many years ahead.
