About This Project

Meditation Garden | Blissful Gardens & Green Dragon Design Located in the tranquil surroundings of Austin, the Meditation Garden represents a successful collaboration between Blissful Gardens and Green Dragon Design. This garden is a very serene space of a few hundred square foot designed as a sanctuary for the mind for meditation and contemplation. Gentle and meandering is the natural flagstone pathway, leading visitors into a rich tapestry of native plants think aromatic lavender and tranquil ornamental grasses. All the plants have been purposely sourced and chosen for their viability in the local climate as well as their sensory potential for relaxation. Doses of color are also provided with the introduction of vibrant wildflowers, complementing the garden in style. One of the top challenges encountered through out the was the site of the land itself, which was very uneven. We did the same with tiered levels where small nooks invite quiet low volume spaces. Locally sourced boulders used for retaining walls add strength but also blend into the landscape. We wanted to extend the meditative feeling so we added a calming water feature with a soft, trickling waterfall to provide ambient sound, plus a few intimate seating areas made of the sustainably harvested teak we work with. These cozy places make for ideal locations to contemplate and meditate. The end product is still a breathtaking retreat that leaves our client in awe in the true sense of serenity. From the layout to the materials chosen, every facet of this house showcases our focus on quality and sustainability. In addition to the beauty it brings to the landscape, the Meditation Garden also contributes to the community by providing the residents of Austin, Barton Creek, Hays, Lost Creek, Onion Creek, Pflugerville, Rollingwood, Shady Hollow, Sunset Valley, West Lake Hills, and Lakeway a place of refuge. This is a true testimony of Blissful Gardens & Green Dragon Design values of creating landscapes that evoke a feeling of serenity and harmony with nature& being able to walk amongst the beautiful plants that surround them.
