- Back Porch/Poolside Xeriscape Garden Suggested by: Green Dragon Design and Blissful Gardens This Xeriscape Garden located in the center of Austin showcases beautiful sustainable landscaping while incorporating the work of Blissful Gardens & Green Dragon Design. Showcasing innovative design for efficiency and beauty, this serves the communities of Barton Creek, Hays, Lost Creek, Onion Creek, Pflugerville, Rollingwood, Shady Hollow, Sunset Valley, West Lake Hills and Lakeway. The brief was to design a garden that required minimal upkeep but had a significant WOW factor, while seamlessly linking to the existing back porch and poolside space. These include agaves, succulents and ornamental grasses, which were chosen because of their drought-resistant character and low water requirement, as far as the selection of native plants was concern. These features were beautifully tiered with decorative gravel paths and natural stone edging to make the whole thing decorative while also retaining and draining water. During the we encountered rough terrain and limited access to water sources. But we employed advanced xeriscaping with mulch and drip irrigation systems, reducing their water usage and maintenance. Using a locally sourced stone not only tied into the site and melded into the natural beauty around the home but also complied with sustainability. The end result was an absolutely stunning oasis that seamlessly blends a variety of textures and colors together to create the perfect escape for homeowners. This garden design not just adds to the enjoyment of the poolside but forms a part that takes great pride in an eco-friendly approach. The thrilled clients spoke highly of their transformation and explained that the new xeriscape garden has become a great place of gathering for family and friends.
