About This Project

Sherwood Farmstead Sherwood Farmstead was completed by The Figure Ground Studio, LLC and is an excellent example of the balance of functionality and beauty that can come from landscaping. Located in beautiful Cold Spring, the property underwent a transformation that truly showcased our quality and craftsmanship. The involved an elaborate arrangement of native plant gardens that created a pleasing landscape while fostering biodiversity in our area. We chose a palette of drought-tolerant plants, including wildflowers and shrubs, that would help ensure sustainability while conserving water. The local stone we used for paths and retaining walls created a natural feel, enhancing the surrounding environment. A notable hurdle of the site included the varied topography, which required careful grading and drainage considerations to establish visual interest while preventing erosion. Our team worked creatively to create terraced garden beds, enhancing the flow and continuum of the landscape to invite exploration and interaction. Central to the Sherwood Farmstead is the outdoor living space we designed, outfitted with a custom fire pit and seating area that unifies community gatherings and family time. Overall, we combined elements of wood, and handmade metalwork to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere. Ultimately, our objective was to create a stunning landscape that provided not only functional benefits for the homeowners, but also reflected their style and connection with the outdoors. The clients thoroughly enjoyed the transformation and expressed their gratitude for our attention to detail and our ability to bring their vision to life. The Figure Ground Studio, LLC is proud of our ability to create rich landscaping experiences that united beauty and intention.
