START: Steps in the Garden by Sargent's Gardens As you enter Rochester, you are greeted by Sargent's Gardens which is the setting for our beautiful ; "Steps in the Garden". Beautiful that we put together to create that perfect flow from home to garden, servicing the regions of Elgin, Eyota, Hammond, Millville, Oronoco, Zumbro Falls, Byron, Stewartville, St. Charles and all of Olmsted County. Natural stone steps woven with limestone sourced on site to compliment the . Not only are these steps highly attractive, but they also serve a functional purpose, offering a safe and expedient way to access different garden levels. Hand picked for character, each stone has its own unique look that works in concert with the established plant life. The sloped nature of the land was one of the challenges we had to face and it would have made it hard to do the traditional landscaping in such a manner. After taking careful grading consideration and ensuring that there is adequate drainage away from the slope to prevent future water pooling which will damage the landscape over time, our landscape crew then moved on to installing all of the step elements of the hardscape. The pathway also includes native plants, which increases biodiversity and provides some habitat for the local fauna. The end result is an alluring architectural mix of form and function. The steps draw the eye and help guide guests through the abundant flowering perennial and aromatic herb garden. The result impressed the client, especially the attention to and how beautifully the steps incorporated into their garden design. Not only has this sculpture added to the visual appeal of the property but "Steps in the Garden" is now also a well-loved family route for togetherness and solitude.
