Full Front & Back Landscape - Ballard, Seattle Borealis Landscape & Design completed the "full front & back landscape" in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, branded as Skipley Farm. This compelling overhaul of the landscape represents our commitment to quality and craftsmanship, serving residents from all walks of life across the Pacific Northwest. The scope included a total redesign of the front and rear yards, where function and landscape character blend seamlessly. In the front, we established a robust palette of native plants to the Pacific Northwest, including lush ferns, colorful rhododendrons, and ornamental grasses, offering curb appeal and diversity that supports the biodiversity in the area. A stone path made from local basalt that we custom sculpted is a formal footpath through the garden, thus providing a vibrant entrance to the home that is inviting to visitors. In the rear, we successfully addressed the challenge of a slope by developing terraced planting beds, filled with seasonal blooms and perennial favorites, designed for visual interest throughout the year. A snug patio area made from reclaimed wood and local stone, set among added lighting features is an exceptional gathering space for social interaction and enjoyment on summer evenings. As we strive to use sustainable practices when we can, we incorporated a rain garden in the landscape to manage stormwater run-off, adding functionality to the landscape and ultimately environmental impact. Our installation team beautifully detailed each element of the amidst the constraints of working in the autumn rainy season, while overcoming obstacles due to the inclement weather. The result is an outdoor space that exceeds expectations of the homeowners, while representing their desire to enjoy their home.
