While working on this type of , we make sure to keep quality and creativity in mind and our latest the 'Cutting Garden/Vegetable Garden Combination' represents exactly that in the core of Greenwich, with clients all over Cos Cob, Glenville, North Stamford, Old Greenwich, Riverside and Stamford. A home for oil, a home for the heart, this was carefully crafted to aesthetically meet needs allowing the client to be able to enjoy their cut flowers as much as the produce nature at its best! We focused on sustainability and reviewed various material options to edge the garden beds before settling on locally sourced stone diverting needless asphalt from the landfill while adding some quality visual aesthetics and longevity. They built the beds with plenty of rich, organic soil for the plants to thrive and designed a balanced irrigation system to keep it all moist during the seasons. One of the biggest challenges we had was the fact that the sun on the site would be different depending on time of day so we had to choose varieties that would allow us to plant them in full sun and partial shade. We carefully selected a wide range of plants, from heirloom tomatoes, bold zinnias, and aromatic basil, so that the garden would be both fruitful and beautifully fragrant. The end result, is a beautiful, functional garden that can be enjoyed with all senses. The client now has an abundant vegetable garden, as well as a cut garden that supplies flowers for their home. Beyond the aesthetic appeal, this goes to show that sustainable and off-grid living is possible. This cutting and veggie garden combo is a testament to our mission here at Kevin Catalano Gardening & Design, creating spaces that are a source of delight and utility for our clients.
