Grant Park Retreat The Grant Park Retreat, found right here in Scappoose is a nationally recognized testament to landscaping and design, completed by Alyse Lansing Garden Design. It transformed a previously dormant space into an exceptional refuge that brings nature into balance with contemporary life. Enter this retreat, home to seething native plantings, which, due to the nature of a local climate, conserve water and offer shelter to wildlife alike. A beautiful curated planting using selected perennials, ornamental grasses and flowering shrubs provide four season interest while a beautiful pathway built from locally quarried basalt guiding guests throughout the rich landscape. From the reclaimed wood for the raised garden beds to the other natural materials usedl, sustainability was top of mind in the design and environment to enhance the organic feel. KEY MODULES:Some of the main problems faced in the were the slope of the land which required innovative drainage systems and terracing strategies. We carefully designed natural stone retaining walls to create flat pads for usable outdoor living space to harmonize with its surroundings. The end product is a balanced escape with a fire pit gathering space with seating, and a small meditation nook nestled between blooming flora. A thoughtfully placed water feature provides soothing sounds, and soft lighting showcases the beauty of the garden at nightfall.
