Myers I Myers | Scappoose Completed by Alyse Lansing Garden Design The Myers I is a pioneering model for a new type of landscape in Scappoose. This garden becomes something that is both usable and visually pleasing, a place that is both eco-friendly and more fuctional garden. Central to the , a custom flagstone patio made from locally sourced stone provides a durable, natural surface to tie the home to the landscape. They are complemented in the landscape with purposeful flower beds, filled with a colourful mix of native perennials to encourage pollinators and other beneficial organisms. The biggest challenge for the was how to deal with the site grade. Through a tiered garden design, Alyse Lansing and her team deftly installed retaining walls of repurposed wood to contain the soil while adding a textured rhythm to the overall landscape. This solution solved the topographical problems that we were facing but it also provided some depth and texture to the rest of the board as well. In addition, with the installation of the drip irrigation system, the garden stays green through all seasons, which shows both the beauty and life cycle of nature, and nurturing the nature. The end result was an amazing outdoor sanctuary that the clients embraced as their own oasis for lounging and entertaining. From this well-constructed wall to the defining rhythm created by these Austraian trees, the Myers I becomes an icon of quality, problem-solving design, and an appreciation of the local site, as represented in the record of gardening in Scappoose.
