Desert Backyard Escape by Quality Green Landscaping Located in Palm Desert, Quality Green Landscaping is proud to announce the completion of the 'Desert Backyard Escape', an original design landscape that has been carefully conceived to adapt to the specific desert landscape. We serve the beautiful Coachella Valley, which includes Bermuda Dunes, Indian Wells, La Quinta, and more, and we were asked to build this outdoor oasis with composition, viability, and sustainability. This larger was facilitated by an in-depth consultation process to gain the full understanding for the client’s desire for a peaceful outdoor space that could be used daily all year. Our only challenge was designing a constructed landscape that (1) behaved well in this rigorous environment, and (2) used as little water as possible, after all, we live in the desert. For these reasons, we used native plants, primarily drought-resistant succulents, agaves, and ornamental grasses, which flourish in our unique and rigid climate, while producing and abundance of textures and colors. In addition, we incorporated a beautiful flagstone pathway that flows through the retreat to a custom-built fire-pit and comfortable seating area. The natural tones of the stone represent the earth tones found in the Coachella Valley and will provide an alternative space for family and friends to gather around a fire on cool nights while enjoying relaxing under the stars. In addition to the wood patio, we also framed a solar-shade pergola. Framed views of the mountain, the solar shade will create additional shade and comfort to the newly landscaped space. One of the primary challenges we overcame was the hilly sloped topography of the site. Our horticultural specialists expertly graded the land to tiered levels to create an additional layer of visual interest while addressing better drainage of water from rains storms. Another innovative aspect was our irrigation system; the smarter irrigation system uses weather systems to not waste water throughout the year while preserving the lush landscape. The awe inspiring outcome is a True Desert Backyard Escape that was exceeded our client’s expectations.
