Description of the 'Stone Terrace' by Landscape Workshop 'Stone Terrace' is a located in Lexington that was present by a Landscape Workshop team who realized a beautiful transformation to a property that fundamentally fulfilled both function and beauty. The team kicked off the 'Stone Terrace' with a comprehensive site analysis to make the best use of the space and improve the existing landscape. The team established stone choice was critical for durability and integration with the surrounding landscape; they selected locally sourced stone- limestone was used in this application. The stone was cut and laid utilizing a delivery method that patterns the stone as it mimicked the natural flow on the existing hillside, all while achieving an inviting feel with the uniformity in the layout. One area the Landscape Workshop team had to tackle was the undulation of the existing ground. The landscape team created a complete drainage method where water would drain appropriately from the 'Stone Terrace' so as not to negatively erode any single layer over time. While drainage can be done as a general measure to prevent erosion, the elevation of soil that was a result of the adjacent gardens being created improved the future soil of the planted area. The area was adorned by a diversity of native plants ranging from ornamental grasses to flowering shrubs, which were not chosen simply for look, but also plant and human impact so that native wildlife/aesthetics can inhabit the installed area. As the unfolded, the Landscape Workshop team maintained its high standards with working diligently to pay attention to detail. The perimeter of the gardens was wrapped as a design aesthetic with raw steel edging, while lighting planned around the perimeter lent a beautiful nighttime atmosphere to the area by dancing light on the stone and foliage. The 'Stone Terrace' has become a central part of the designation of the family because the landscape architect envisioned the transformation as an area in which people could spend time together or alone, enjoying the tranquility of their backyard in the evenings or by having a fire. The features and stone placement exceeded the expectation of the client and as such, created a very special memory-making location, further validating Landscape Workshop's recognition and reputation for quality work for the ever-loving client.
