Transitional Garden by Landscape Workshop Landscape Workshop is very pleased to present the 'Transitional Garden', a perfect marriage of modern sophistication and the natural world, in the center of Lexington. Serving our community in Lexington, Georgetown and beyond, the purpose of the was to create a refuge that encouraged the flow between indoors and outdoors. The garden demonstrates a lovely balance of hardscaping and softscaping, including locally sourced bluestone stone paths, and custom made cedar benches in the seating areas. Additionally, a vibrant water feature with a small waterfall provides pleasant sounds of water for a relaxing atmosphere. There were challenges posed by the site and the slope of the land that needed to be overcome by grading in a way that would allow for effective drainage, but that would still be visually appealing. We carefully worked with the site and used native plants to control the slope, and to help with soil stabilization while using more diverse native species for animals. The use of several different perennial selections and ornamental grasses creates instant seasonal color and variety for the wildlife and birds who visit. When considering the overall framework, the final product offers a dramatic visual experience with a timespan of a structured geometry and organic nature. The client was very happy with the transformation, particularly that there was a flow from one function to another and that there was green space throughout the design. The Transitional Garden was a great that is a testament to Landscape Workshop's quality workmanship, attention to detail, and ability to make the dreary site into something wonderful.
