Renovating Two Front Yards- Goodbye Lawn!

Two Front Yards Renos - Bye Bye Lawn! Submitted by: Paradise garden & landscape At Paradise Garden & Landscape, we just wrapped up another fun , "Two Front Yards over Hallway - Bye Bye Lawn". to the cheer of two happy home owners in the San Francisco bay area. We aimed to change their traditional high maintenance lawns to low-maintenance, environmentally friendly landscapes using a more contemporary look and methods. The built up landscape elements previously consisted of lawns, which took a lot of water and maintenance to sustain. Instead of grass, we designed two gorgeous xeriscapes planted with drought-tolerant plants, native flowers, and ornamental grasses that were selected for their beauty and ability to withstand drought. We added a medley of river rock and decomposed granite for natural walkways to charming nooks to enjoy the California sun. One of the biggest hurdles we had to overcome was dealing with the different soil types between the two yards, and making sure that water drained properly on both yards. The new layouts were protected from erosion over time by our skilled use of quality landscaping fabric and well-placed gravel beds. This level of care ensured the landscapes would succeed through even the warmest summer months. We opted for custom-made raised planter beds out of reclaimed wood which added character while also serving as a function as well. They now grow many types herbs and seasonal vegetables in these beds, and the owners benefit from having something fresh to eat literally from their front yard. We also added beautiful new energy-efficient LED lighting, which showcases the stunning features of the gardens as well as providing safety and atmosphere at night. The end result was a stunning renovation that our clients love and is good news for the planet. These are low-maintenance, stunningly beautiful new landscapes that have become a home for local pollinators, a testament to the grace of sustainable gardening.
