The property's existing, undeveloped topography with a sloped landscape, and some majestic, mature oak trees posed unique challenges. Our landscape architects produced a design plan to take advantage of these features while still improving the functional aspects of the design, without losing the natural beauty of the property. Our design included a beautiful arrangement of native plant species, promoting sustainability and resilience in the Low Country environment. Among the more notable features of the Newcastle Residence are a winding flagstone path that entices the user to explore the gardens filled with colorful azaleas, hydrangeas, and ornamental grasses, accompanied by a relaxing water feature adding interest and calming sounds to enjoy outdoor living in the yard with family and friends to make it feel like their very own sanctuary. Our team utilized quality materials, including local stone and sustainably harvested hardwood, to support our intention to be environmentally concious while offering durability. While developing the landscape, we faced other challenges such as soil erosion and drainage. Through solutions like carefully placed retaining walls around the property, and developing a drainage system, we were able to make the best use of the site by alleviating eroding soil and drainage issues, while creating a landscape that invites nature’s beauty through each turn resulting in a phenomenal landscape that the client can enjoy year-round. The final result is a lovely outdoor space designed with aesthetics, functionality and to meet the expectations of our clients criteria in this .
