Site InFORMS: Outdoor Room and Fireplace by Artscape Land Design One of our recently completed s is this beautiful Outdoor Room and Fireplace that has turned our client's backyard into an outdoor oasis just in time for winter! We have been designing outdoor areas that combine functionality and natural beauty to serve the communities of Elmwood, Jefferson, Kenner, Metairie, Metairie Terrace, New Orleans, and River Ridge with pride. The original concept for the was an outdoor room, a comfortable place where family and friends could gather from either inside or outside at any time of year. We designed a large outdoor room with a custom stone fireplace and particularisation fireplace to be the focal point of the room and to keep it warm on a cool night. For the materials, we chose only the best quality, locally sourced materials such as a durable flagstone for the patio to blend the hardscape with the natural landscape and extend its lifespan. The yard had a slope and that created various challenges that needed creative solutions for dealing with drainage and traversing the property. Our team designed a multi-tiered solution that did not just face these problems, but also created interest and defined areas for lounging, dining, and cooking. We included native planting that grows well in our region, needs little maintenance, and contributes to the biodiversity of the area it is in. The end product is a seamless integration of hardscape and softscape, including comfortable seating areas, ambient lighting, and a carefully manicured garden designed to provide relaxation and enjoyment.
