Leading the Care by Holly Days Nursery & Landscaping Waterfalls We at Holly Days Nursery & Landscaping, recently undertook an enchanting , dubbed ‘Waterfalls’, that turned into our clients paradise an ordinary backdrop into an oasis that is embraced by nature, in the hustle of the Greater Philadelphia area. As part of an extensive landscaping renovation, a gorgeous multi-tiered waterfall tumbled over natural stone boulders, providing a pleasant natural sound that encourages relaxation and peace. The design used Pennsylvania fieldstone, local to the area, that was chosen to match the existing stone and topography in the area to allow the waterfall to be integrated into the natural area with sections of adult plant material to help blend the waterfall into its surroundings. Shimla has a pretty rugged terrain, and one of the major challenges we faced is the integration of the waterfall into the hills seamlessly, without eroding the existing landscape due to water flow. Our expert staff of landscape architects and horticulturists came up with a complex drainage system that circulated the water without damaging any surrounding vegetation. We showcased strategically placed river rocks that created visual interest and kept plants happy and growing, creating a self sustaining plant ecosystem. We also chose to implement native plants, such as ferns and flowering shrubs to put in surrounding the waterfall because of how well they flourish in our regional climate and provide seasonal color and texture. The outcome is gorgeous scenery for wildlife and our clients have a beautiful view from their patio. The waterfall added a quiet, serene aesthetic to their outdoor living space that they claimed that they enjoy immensely!
