Located on the quiet shore of Lake Washington this was a transformation of a steep slope into an attractive multi-tiered terrace of usable Space for outdoor living and interaction with nature. The main feature of the was the use of local stone for the terracing walls. The locally sourced stone walls offer structural element yet provided aesthetic quality for the lake side setting at the shoreline. The combination of the stone walls and native plantings offered quality habitat for local wildlife and included low maintenance and sustainability. Given the steep slope, the design included innovative solutions for drainage, to keep water from eroding the slope, and ensure the landscape continued for years to come. The design solution includes a winding path for visitors made from permeable pavers that guide guests through the amenities while encouraged a full experience of the space. Another focal point that provides enjoyment, interaction, and timeless family enjoyment of nature is the fire pit area, surrounded by seating for enjoying warmth and starry night sky while with family. The fire pit area makes gathering with family and friends enjoyable. Functionally, the addition of ambient lighting throughout the terrace offered quality lighting at night and beyond where is clearly illuminates the terraced walls making the overall quality of this undeniable. The meticulous attention to detail and commitment to workmanship, all resulted in an unforgettable outdoor living space that exceeded the clients expectation.
