About This Project

Eastern Shore - Wild Works of Whimsy, LLC. The Eastern Shore is located on the coast and shows Wild Works of Whimsy, LLC's commitment to creating remarkable landscapes in harmony with nature. Servicing the regions of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake, our team embarked on this major landscape on a site of over 2500 square feet. The involved a beautiful palette of native plants, which are appropriate for coastal conditions, that we incorporated into the landscape such as ornamental grasses, flowering perennials, and shrubs that are salt tolerant and grow well in sandy soil. A random path was created using locally sourced flagstone, keeping with a natural theme for the area and to withstand coastal conditions. One of the larger challenges of this work was the uneven surface of the site, where we performed substantial grading and soil amendments to create a level base. With a skilled team of qualified professionals, proper drainage was ensured to discourage erosion and water saturation of plants, as well the fertility of soil was improved for the plantings. Rain gardens were incorporated to capture runoff and filter water, while promoting ecological health and aesthetics to the design. The final product is a stunning section of planted elements that provides a seating area to enjoy the garden space, while being framed with plant material and flowering plants. The space was so beautiful, the client was overjoyed as they never imagined the transformation could be so sweet and fulfill their vision for a tranquil getaway. The Eastern Shore is yet another that demonstrates Wild Works of Whimsy, LLC can take a dream and see it through in the as evidenced with this as a commitment to quality, creativity, and stewardship in all aspects of our work.
