Rigged to integrate with the current structure, the retreat incorporates an ideal multi-level terrace, a clear border-edge pool, and a biodiversity of local plant garden habitats for the local wildlife. High-quality materials were sensibly specified, such as natural stone pavers and wooden deckings, for aesthetics and durability to protect from the elements. The most difficult conditions were to optimize the spatially restrictive site conditions in an urban context and additionally, the landscape as a visual and functional feature. Vertical gardens and trellises handle that privacy issue with lush greenery, providing both aspect and privacy, a smart move by DWY Landscape Architects.
