English Garden. (Photo by Land Architects, Inc.)Located in downtown Ann Arbor, Land Architects, Inc.'s 'English Garden' is a gorgeous display of English landscape design that harmoniously combines refined beauty with nature. The broad sweep of this garden gives a pleasing mix of flowering perennials, hedges and carefully selected ornamental trees that look good all year. The design features a handpicked assortment of high-end materials, like pathways paved in locally-sourced stone paired with rustic wooden arbors that create gateways throughout the garden. Winding pathways leading visitors through the space, surrounded by colourful flora like lavender, roses and foxglovesall chosen seasonallyinvite onlookers to step in. A prominent challenge encountered in the design was the heterogeneous topography of the site, which required creative solutions for grading to facilitate drainage and reduce erosion. These challenges were considered with care and professionalism by our team and we instead sculpted the landscape to be rolling and hills - keeping much of the earth on site, which improves the sustainability of the garden. The end product is the gorgeous English Garden that achieved the client's dream while welcoming nature aficionados in to enjoy it themselves. Land Architects, Inc. has created a timeless outdoor experience where the senses are celebrated and the community is edified with an emphasis on quality building materials and attention to detail.
