Our Work by R W Thompson Landscaping Here at R W Thompson Landscaping, we recently completed a d "Our Work" that underscores our brand of excellence. "Our Work" was recently completed for a home in the beautiful landscape outside of Keene, Lexington, Lexington-Fayette, Nicholasville, Georgetown, Paris, Winchester and Richmond. This is a great representation of R W Thompson's long standing tradition of quality, creativity and customer service. The was for a large residential piece of property that required attention to function and form. Our first few meetings with the client consisted of hour-long meetings, helping us understand their vision for outdoor spaces that would mean relaxing outdoor living spaces that produced another outlet for entertainment. The vision required a palette of native plants, that would be expected to thrive in climate and contribute to biodiversity. To accomplish the simple modern, yet classic look, we used quality materials, high quality locally sourced stone for walkways and retaining wall, and custom built wood pergolas to produce shade and structure. As we referenced the layout we faced a quirky unique challenge of landscape and sloping, as the property consisted of a hillside. Adjustment in grading would be made to accommodate drainage and erosion. The team was able to encapsulated the sloping properties with a tiered garden - of a combination of retaining walls - that brought both function and visual quality. With the inclusion of a serene water feature, with the switching of ambient, warm lighting for glow at night - the garden was transformed into a captivating paradise. The client was pleasantly surprised with the process of creating a garden that was edged in quiet solace and peace. The end product meant the serving of family friends to socialize and support each other. More than just curb appeal, this method of creating space informs and gives thought to how function and interaction can occur.
