Rim Rock

Scope: Rim Rock by Texas Custom Turf Located in beautiful West Lake Hills, the 'Rim Rock' landscaping is an embodiment of the artistry and expertise that Texas Custom Turf represents. Our team undertook this challenge in creating a new outdoor living space that would turn a difficult site into a wonderful addition to the beauty of the Texas landscape. The included a sophisticated assembly of native plantings and drought tolerant materials to provide not only sustainability, but an attractive addition to the property. Pieces that highlighted this included a lovely stone path of locally sourced limestone that meanders through beds of colorful flowers accentuated with seasonal blooms and native grasses. This path provides easy access, while also providing a visual anchor to draw people through the experience of the landscape. The steepness of the property was one of the major challenges we faced. As a designer and contracting team, we approached this objective with creative thinking for drainage and access. Our talented landscape architects designed a series of tiered retaining walls made from weathered granite pieces that managed the water flow beautifully while providing a dramatic and artistic layering to the garden. The walls are wrapped with a variety of ornamental shrubbery and flowering plants that survive the Texas weather to provide contrasting vibrant hues throughout the year. To complete the outdoor living space, we designed the space including an elegant fire pit with ample seating utilizing natural stone. This additional feature creates not only an aesthetically pleasing area to enjoy, but also provides a great setting for families to gather, enjoy in the evenings, and enhance their outdoor experience. The result of the delighted our clients and was extremely well received in the community. What has being created is the perfect combination of beauty and purpose, and another demonstration of Texas Custom Turf’s commitment to excellence in landscape design and build.
