Enjoy Drought Tolerant Landscape with a Dry Creek Bed by Happy Gardens Happy Gardens would like to share our latest work, a fabulous drought tolerant landscape with a lovely dry creek bed we completed for a very discriminating client in Fort Worth, including Westover Hills, which is an environmentally friendly that is just as beautiful as it is functional. Our design team designed and constructed a landscape that fits the local native ecosystem of the area with native plants, succulents, and ornamental grasses that thrive in dry climates. The choice of materials was very important, as we used a local river stone and large boulders to help create a natural dry creek bed; this dry river bed channels rain storms in the most sustainable method while being a beautiful design element and preserves the aesthetics of the yard. The landscape itself is not completely flat; it has a variety of slopes and elevation changes in the view of the finished . Our design team contoured together the dry creek bed in a way that allows the water to drain and flow in the way water would naturally move on and through the yard. The design team also installed drip irrigation in order to water efficiently in a drought tolerant manner. The finished product is a spectacular landscape that certainly fits the wants of the client, while at the same time being sustainable. The dry creek bed is engineered to be a beautiful center point featured prominently; in addition to be sustainable in the aspect of water management. Native plants are thriving, animals are attracted to the natural habitat, and there is year round interest. The customer expressed the satisfaction of their newly designed space is as functionally appealing as it is attractive.
