Modern but rooted in Texas

Modern yet Texas-Influenced Happy Gardens is excited to share 'Modern yet Texas-Influenced' exhibition garden in Fort Worth, which includes the beautiful surrounding neighborhood of Westover Hills. This is a continuation of contemporary design and the deep-rooted, natural history found within the Texas landscape, resulting in a recognizable outdoor space rooted in modern design, yet influential of a more traditional design aspect. The started with an extensive analysis of the current site, which enabled us as a team to understand the climate and soil challenges presented by the landscape and Texas environment. We had to introduce drought-tolerant plants, yet create a vibrant landscape to endure the full exposure of the Texas sun. The designers did a great job choosing native and adapted plants, including Bluebonnet and Blackfoot Daisy, that have proven hardy plants to survive in a less-maintained landscape. On the more modern side, we incorporated clean hardscaping materials by using a large bluestone patio and natural flagstone pathways, which connect guests through the landscape. These natural materials aid in aesthetics, but provide durability and performance because of the nature of the elements the professionals selected. Sustainable features embodied in a rain garden and permeable pavement provided water management and reflected a level of sustainable practice and application, while matching the modern style. That said, some challenges throughout the were uneven terrain and limited square footage. The challenges were easily met, as our team arranged to creatively overcome the obstacles with strategic plant arrangements, for example. We arranged for terracing and other creations to maximize the visual impact, while still blending in basic functionality for guest access. Overall, the final product is a wonderful landscape that incorporated various display ideas of modern design and rustic Texas landscape charm! The transformation stimulated a great deal of happiness from the client, who loved the vibrancy, filled with color and texture, that now defines the outdoor space. What started as a struggle and then became a lovely landscape, demonstrates the quality of work and attention to detail and complexities that... have taken to a ready and built landscape. At Happy Gardens, we believe we tell a story through our work and design. The 'Modern yet Texas-influenced' story is an example of creating beautiful landscapes that, again, honor modern design but still celebrate what is natural in the Texas landscape.
