It was the change that started at the beginning with a holistic design outline based on sustainable landscaping principles. Native and drought tolerant trees to maximize biodiversity and help minimize irrigation were purposely chosen. Not only was this an environmentally friendly option, but this decided landscape could thrive all year round! A major highlight of this was the installation of beautiful natural stone patio, comprised of locally sourced stone. Also, this sturdy material is not only suitable for the architecture of the house but also establishes a good transition between the indoor and the outdoor area. This patio is a great meeting point for families and friends and even comes with an integrated fire pit to help pull the aesthetic together on a cool evening. Beyond the patio, we layered the garden to include colorful perennials, ornamental grasses, and showy shrubs arranged with the intention of adding depth and interest. We used terracing techniques to address sloped terrain and create a more dynamic landscape to maximise the usable outdoor space, which our expert team gladly undertook as a challenge. We installed an efficient irrigation system that ideally delivers the right amount of water to each plant species, keeping them healthy while conserving water so they carry on all year round. We also incorporated ambient lighting throughout the landscape that picked out features and made the whole walk-around magical post-sunset. Our client was over the moon with the outcome of California Home 4.
