The started with a vision from our clients, who wanted to design an outdoor entertaining location that complimented the work they had done to their interior spaces and added an entrance feature for guests to gather around. This is located in the lively community of East Grand Rapids and, as expected, had its challenges. Specifically, we had to contend with a sloped property and mature trees around the site. We overcame these limitations with an exceptional design that not only referenced, but also paid homage to, the area's natural beauty. It was important to our clients to develop an attractive grill island to incorporate into the overall design. The grill island is constructed with solid, weather-resistant granite surfaces and includes a stainless-steel grill that we are confident will serve them for years of cooking outdoors. Part of the design also included a built-in seating area for guests to enjoy while soaking in the atmosphere. We also included added elements such as LED lighting throughout, which allow for evening events to feel warm and inviting when leaving the grill. We complimented the design of the grill island by further landscaping the area around it. To do this, we created pathways made from decorative stone, and a variety of native plants for a more natural element that contributes to easy access to the grill island. Additionally, the plants we chose are local and appropriate for the climate, producing minimal maintenance for our clients. In the end, we accomplished everything we set out to do, and our clients couldn't have been more pleased with the transformation of their outdoor space into an active and inviting gathering point.
