Crain Lift Princeton Carnegie Lake Kale's Nursery & Lands 'Crane Lift' a spectacular landscape redesign surrounding Carnegie Lake in Princeton. This ambitious sought to ensure the landscape was both beautiful and functional while remaining sustainable. Together with our team, we have created a tranquil lakeside getaway connecting with nature through native plants and biodiversity using green materials. In the approach we started with a site analysis, where we noticed problems like steep slopes and soil loss due to erosion. In order to solve those problems, we built terraces, with heavy stone work and landscape boulders we purchased from an area quarry. Choosing drought-tolerant plants reduces water consumption and still offers full blooms every season. We included a broad mix of colors, including ornamental grass, shrubs, and prairie flowers to provide an eye-pleasing tapestry of color and texture that invites local wildlife into the game. A standout feature of the Crane Lift was a custom wooden deck that expands into the water, leading to a relaxation and recreation area. This is made from sustainably harvested timber that harmonizes with the surroundings and withstands the outdoor elements. The shoreline was improved with riparian river rock, substrates and native aquatic plants to support water quality and habitat for local fish and birds.
