Steps by Canopy Landscapes The Steps from Canopy Landscapes is located in Ann Arbor, and demonstrates the power of converting outdoor spaces into functional, beautiful spaces. The centered around improving the transition from the backyard to the landscape in the backyard while improving aesthetics and accessibility for the homeowners. Using locally quarried natural stone, we built a beautiful set of tiered steps that gently lead you into the landscape. Each of the steps was made with bluestone and fieldstone to create a seamless appearance that goes along with the ornamental trees and plants. The use of permeable materials ensured drainage and will minimize erosion on the natural slope of the site. While the terrain of the site was uneven at the beginning of the , we were able to level the ground through careful planning and execution while also building a series of retaining walls to support the steps and add some visual interest to the landscape. To provide seasonal color for the homeowner and to attract some of the local wildlife, we added native plantings on the sides of the steps. The final product was a beautiful visual moment that darkened a space in their home into a calming area. The homeowners were very pleased with the final product, as shown through their appreciation of the work and attention to detail in craftsmanship brought by Canopy Landscapes.
