### Small Space Yard & Garden Design - The JCRD Group At The JCRD Group, a small area can become remarkable with good design and creativity. The 'Small Space Yard & Garden Design' is one of many we've completed to illustrate our ability to make the most of small areas and create a beautiful outdoor living space based on the client's lifestyle. This particular was designed in a nice neighborhood in Burbank, just north of downtown Los Angeles, and was a small, charming backyard measuring only 300 square feet. Our biggest challenge was to create an attractive yet functional space within limited dimensions. We performed a thorough site analysis, determining the orientation of light across the yard, the quality of the soil, and questions from the client relating to a low-maintenance garden. Using quality materials, we developed a design based on a combination of drought-resistant plants and native plants from California that will thrive in the space, making it sustainable and simple to maintain. The centerpiece of the yard is a beautifully-constructed, multi-level deck made from reclaimed tigerwood that provides a seating area as well as space for vertical gardens. A custom stone, made from flagstone quarried in the area, guides your feet through the green foliage, as well as provides a sense of peace or solitude among all of the colorful and fragrant green plants. Within the design, we included vertical planters as well as wall-mounted herb gardens for vibrancy on the walls instead of taking up ground space. The finishing touches included water to aid in the sense of tranquility such as a small recirculating fountain and subtle bubbling water sources to reinforce the tranquility of the garden and to attact local wildlife. The final product was a beautifully-transformed great yard that went above and beyound the clients "glamour photos". In addition to transforming the yard's aesthetic, the new yard provided an inviting front entry path, as well as space to relax in comfort, while also providing space for holding small social gatherings, or simply time away from the house for sequestration or optional contemplation with our busy, fast-paced lifestyles.
