Organic Edible Gardens Harvest to Home Vegetable & Herb Garden Service Our latest at Harvest to Home was to create an Organic Edible Garden in a suburban backyard located in Newport Beach, centered around sustainable landscaping and culinary talents. It is a great example of our ability to design practical, aesthetic outdoor spaces to feed the body and soul. This design consists of a series of raised garden beds of environmentally friendly cedar, which provides an aesthetic and durable structure to grow different vegetables and herbs. We added organic soil amendments for active growth, specific to the climate of Southern California. To maximize sunlight and make the beds easy to maintain, this layout includes yards of tiered beds so that our client can plan and plant everything from bright heirloom tomatoes to delicious basil. A concrete patio more than 500 square feet of it to be exact is great for barbecues, but it presented one of the significant challenges we faced in our yard that curtailed our outdoor gardening. To creatively bypass this, our talented team included clever vertical gardening solutions as well as trellises with sustainable bamboo to help retain the space and provide further depth throughout the gardens, too. We also placed a drip irrigation system which saves water and keeps the moisture constant, which is very important in dry areas. The end result is a green, thriving garden that adds to the property's visual appeal, as well as giving the family produce literally in their back yard. Our client was thrilled to imagine their kids plucking strawberries and cutting herbs for family dinners, deepening their relationship with food and the land.
