About This Project

Prairie Village Garden Oasis Set in the midst of Prairie Village, the 'Prairie Village Garden Oasis' features an exemplary landscape designed by Lorax Design Group, a premier landscape design firm in Kansas City. The took a standard residential yard and transformed it into a beautiful oasis that blends nature with modernity. The design features a complex mix of native plants, including ornamental grasses and colorful perennials, that are hardened for the local climate and would grow well in the location. A meandering stone path, made from locally sourced limestone, leads guests through the garden, ultimately to a serene water feature that creates calming sound. The still water pond is framed by numerous boulders and aquatic plants, serving as a focal point, whilst attracting nearby wildlife. One of the biggest challenges during the was managing the various elevations in the landscape. Our team designed tiered planting beds, resolving drainage challenges and adding depth and dimension to the design. Building with recycled materials, including reclaimed wood for raised beds, shows our commitment to creating sustainable designs that mix well within their natural environments. The result is a beautiful oasis that functions from day to night. The outdoor living space is highlighted by a custom fire pit and comfortable seating for family gatherings and slow evenings outside. The clients were thrilled with the outcome, which included value in the attention to detail as well as the design's fusion of hardscape and softscape elements.
