About This Project

Craftsman Style Country Home This 'Craftsman Style Country Home' , was designed and built by Meier Landscape Architecture, beautifully exemplifies the relationship between landscape settings and architecture. Serving the greater Kansas City Metro areawhich encompasses Belton, Bucyrus, Grandview, Leawood and point fartherwe set out to transform this large site into an outdoor oasis that matched the essence of its Craftsman vernacular. The features professionally designed hardscapes including a custom stone walk of locally sourced flagstone that navigates the lush landscape. We also included native plantings which contribute to the rustic experience of the home and also promote water usage and sustain wildlife. The area is finished with rich materials like cedar, and reclaimed wood and materials that match the rustic vibes while being durable. One of the challenges we faced was the property slope. Our design team created tiered garden beds that add visual interest as well as handling water runoff. This not only added visual interest, but allowed for more longevity, and a reduced maintenance standard for the homeowner. The end result was a great outdoor living space with seating around a built in fire pit for outdoor gatherings or peaceful evenings. Additionally, colorful gardens that bloom throughout the seasons combine for a beautiful outdoor scene every time of year. The quality of craftsmanship and detailed attention left the client very happy and transformed their outdoor experience and physical boundary of the home within the beautiful outdoor setting.
