The first step was to survey the site in order to discover the need for improved drainage after observing the pooling of water on the property. We constructed an integrated drainage system with quality perforated pipe and gravel bed drainage to ensure effective water movement in the landscape and reduced erosion in the future. The design included a wide selection of native plants including ornamental grasses and perennials for color and character. All of these plants are native to the Mid-Atlantic region, low-maintenance, and suitable for the climate. We included a natural stone path in the landscape that circled through the landscape beautifully, connecting the usable space while maintaining accessibility throughout the different areas of the yard. The centerpiece of the outdoor living space was a custom made fire pit using locally sourced flagstone, with a seated area surrounding it perfect for family gatherings and cozy evenings. Additionally, we installed landscape lighting surrounding the fire pit to provide a warm glow to the overall outdoor space while also providing safe access at night. The also came with some challenges like the irregularity of the landscape or areas of the property shaded too much for plant growth. Our horticulturalists overcame these at times, challenging circumstances by selecting shade-loving species or even using terracing to create depth and visual interest. The final result is an extraordinary outdoor experience that reflects the tastes of the client and increased the value of the client's property. The feedback from the client was overwhelming and satisfied, specifically praising our detail to design and execution throughout the space.
