About This Project

Wallingford Residence Vireo Design Studio, LLC is excited to present the Wallingford Residence, a great example of our skill and creativity in residential landscaping. Situated in an active neighborhood known as Wallingford, this was a challenging and rewarding , showcasing our talents in melding nature into a residence with dignity. We began this with a thorough analysis of the site. Our analysis indicated that achieving a cohesive design to address drainage and enhance the overall curb appeal of the residence was crucial. We designed a multi-leveled garden of native Pacific Northwest plants for sustainability and low maintenance. The is anchored with a dry-laid stone wall made of locally sourced basalt, adding both visual detail and structural support for the slope. To provide a welcoming feel to the neighborhood while also enacting some passive drainage, a winding path of permeable pavers allows visitors to travel through a verdant tapestry of colorful perennials and ornamental grasses. The use of natural materials, such as reclaimed wood for raised gardens, and a backyard cedar pergola, made the feel to the residence and the surrounding neighborhood. While one of the challenges was the site's lake of sunlight, due to surrounding trees, we ameliorated this by planting shade-tolerant plants that would guarantee colorful blooms and foliage throughout the seasons. Together our analysis, attention to detail, and execution produce a calming refuge that reflects the balance of form and function while satisfying our client's expectations. The Wallingford Residence represents and showcases Vireo Design Studio’s commitment to distinct and innovative residential landscaping that successfully transfers challenges into innovations for opportunity. Their attention to detail has not only improved the value of this property, they have improved the quality of living for the residents.
