This stunning Composite Timbertech Deck with Under Deck Skirting in Des Moines, IA, represents an exceptional blend of functionality and aesthetics, tailored to meet the unique needs of the homeowners who sought a durable and visually appealing outdoor space. Originally, the wooden deck was smaller and lacked the charm and practicality of the newly constructed deck, which now boasts a generous depth of 22 feet. The choice of materials was pivotal, as the homeowners wanted a low-maintenance solution that would withstand the elements while maintaining a warm and inviting look. For the main decking, we selected Timbertech PVC Capped Composite Decking in the rich hue of Legacy – Tigerwood, which offers the beauty of natural wood without the upkeep. To enhance the visual interest, we employed a picture frame design using a contrasting darker board, Timbertech’s Legacy – Pecan, which beautifully outlines the deck. The railing system, crafted from Westbury’s Bronze color aluminum with larger 4-inch posts, not only provides safety but also adds a touch of sophistication to the overall design. Considering the deck's proximity to the ground and the family's desire for a safe play area for their children, we incorporated horizontal decking from the bottom of the frame to the ground. This thoughtful design prevents balls and pets from accessing the space beneath the deck, ensuring a clean and secure environment. To enhance safety during evening hours, puck deck riser lights were installed on the stairs, providing essential illumination and creating an inviting atmosphere for nighttime gatherings. The result is a beautifully crafted outdoor deck that seamlessly blends style and practicality, making it a perfect setting for family activities, entertaining guests, or simply enjoying the tranquility of the outdoors.
