Located in the heart of Oak Brook, the married nature and creativity with the intent of improving the clients' outdoor living experience. The landscape design included beautiful and functional hardscapes, which consist of a custom stone patio made of regionally-sourced bluestone, complemented by beautiful retaining walls that shape and define the space. The space utilized a winding trail made of permeable pavers that guides guests through lush garden beds filled with a selection of natives and seasonal blooms for visual dynamics and interest over the months and seasons. One of the significant challenges we faced during this was the existing slope of the property, to which we installed innovative drainage. We implemented an advanced drainage system installed to alleviate water runoff, while also preserving the existing flora from drowning. We also tied the drainage to an automated irrigation system for improvements in water conservation and to optimize the health of the landscape. The outcome is a stunning oasis, which includes a water feature for tranquil sounds and local wildlife. The addition of ambient lighting placed throughout enhances ambiance at night, allowing the client to enjoy the space long after the sun sets.
