Set back in what is now the picturesque Monclair area, this faced difficulties based on the steep hills and the differing elevations. A skilled team professionally designed a multi-tier platform to beautify as well as stabilize and sustain the sloped landscape. It also included a number of elements that were uniquely the client’s, such as custom stone retaining walls built from local granite, which both support the land as it rises from the shoreline, and add a striking feature to the property that balances the greenery around it. The design includes many native plants that are low maintenance and can withstand the elements of the region. Colorful flowering perennials, fragrant herbs, and ornamental grasses that provide year-round interest were included in the new planting design. Our team installed a full French drain and bioswale system to contend with drainage issues that are characteristic of these sloped landscapes, which also help manage water runoff and prevent erosion. Along with this, decorative gravel pathways were introduced throughout the landscape, directing visitors through the grounds as well as providing easy access and enjoyment of the land. The end result is a stunning landscape blending with the nature, an inviting place to unwind or engage in recreational activities.
