California Backyard Deck, Firepit, and Water Fountain by Gravel and Green This spectacular by Gravel and Green transforms a traditional backyard into a beautiful and sophisticated outdoor space that promotes relaxation and enjoyment in California's outdoors. Based in the greater Los Angeles area, including nearby Bel Air, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica, we were enlisted to create a space that combined function and aesthetics, and we are proud of the outcome. We began the by designing and installing an expansive multi-level deck using sustainably harvested hardwood, with the goal being to provide a base for outdoor gatherings that is both functional and aesthetically beautiful. The deck is designed with its own built-in seating and the overall finished product is elegant, the depth of the levels creates a nice flow into the indoor areas of the home, and it became the focal point of the backyard. Next to the deck, we designed and built a custom firepit constructed of natural stone. The firepit was designed to provide heat and ambiance for socializing outdoors as well as interest for the individuals seated around it. The rustic look of the firepit compliments the natural look of the stone and surrounding environment and the area lends itself to social gatherings among friends and family. To enhance the serenity of the outdoor space, we incorporated a beautiful water fountain into the design, as we felt the soothing sounds of water would enhance the overall enjoyment of the area and could invite local wildlife. Using quality craftsmanship and materials, the water fountain, matching stone, and abundant plantings fit seamlessly into the overall design of the backyard. We were facing challenges throughout the entire , as previous landscaping had impeded drainage and the building site was sloped in many different ways. We were able to overcome most of these obstacles using proper grading and implementing a drainage system that will promote longevity of the plant material. In the end, the finished is a beautiful outdoor oasis that not only aligns with our client's original vision, it makes the entire property beautiful! The deck, firepit, and water feature merge together to create a relaxing getaway that reflects both the lifestyle and sophistication of the surrounding areas.
