Hardscape Design for Form and Function Eagleson Landscape Co. is excited to showcase our latest hardscape design , "Hardscape Design for Form and Function," as an example of our high standards of quality and creativity in outdoor spaces. We completed this for a client in the communities around Carmel, Noblesville, Sheridan, Westfield, Whitestown, Zionsville, Indianapolis, and Fishers, which adds both aesthetic appeal as well as functional usefulness to the property. The began with careful considerations of the sites unique topography and drainage patterns. There are always concerns water, especially when it is not following a natural pattern. We made note of areas requiring further enhancements in order to enable the utilization of the landscape and various spaces within it in all seasons of the year. We selected high-quality materials such as natural stone pavers, concrete, and brickwork, with the intention to maximize appeal but minimize maintenance life cycle. A unique feature of the design is a large patio that encourages movement or flow from the home to the intentional outdoor space with a rescue fire pit surrounded by natural stone seating. We also developed a retaining wall that addresses the issues of elevational change but also adds visual interest to garden beds, all while committing to each garden bed being filled with seasonal colors to compliment the hardscape. As with almost every landscape , we had some challenges from the existing elevation, as well as vegetation in the way of the intended overall design, but our team knew what to do and took care to make it seem like the hardscape fit the site naturally. The hardscape elements eventually came together in an organized way and offered the client form and function as a design specification. Our team also recognizes that an inviting pathway for visitors in navigating the site is equally important if a design has a goal for usage.
