Long Beach Indiana Corner Lot by Planned Environment Associates Planned Environment Associates is excited to announce our efforts to turn a corner lot in Long Beach, Indiana, into an exemplary outdoor space. This is a showcase of our attention to quality, creativity, and sustainability in our landscaping efforts. We started with a corner lot that had a steep slope and relatively small size, and created a series of tiered garden beds using locally sourced stone. This natural stone not only blended into the environment but also contributed to the drainage and soil health. This posed a delicate balancing act within the design. A fire pit is the main focus of the landscaping, surrounded by a native plant palette comprised of vibrant perennials and ornamental grasses that grow throughout the seasons. For the patio, we used permeable pavers to minimize impervious surfaces and let rainwater filter back into the ground. We also had to deal with regulatory challenges from local zoning and anticipate conflicts with existing neighborhood characteristics, while also trying to benefit from the limited space. The homeowner's vision was important to us and we made sure to remain engaged with them for the duration of the . When the was complete, a gorgeous and inviting area for entertaining and relaxing was created in the outdoor space of the house. The final outcome is a gorgeous balance of form and function that improved the property's curb appeal and will allow the homeowners to escape their everyday surroundings.
