Long Beach, Indiana Before and After Planned Environment Associates (PEA) is excited to present the 'Long Beach, Indiana Before and After' landscape , a property transformation that displays our passion for quality outdoor design. The setting in the beautiful Long Beach community presented unique challenges due to a sloped site and an existing landscape that suffered from poor drainage. We began by performing a thorough site analysis that provided us with an opportunity to create a strategic plan suited to the client's design ambitions balanced with practical site-specific needs. We chose quality materials including locally sourced stone to create retaining walls and select pavers that practically blend into the landscape. We included native plants to promote ecological sustainability and biodiversity while assuring that the landscape will flourish within the local ecosystem. Our skilled artisans confidently innovated ways to overcome substantial issues addressing drainage by re-grading the land and improving efficiency with a new irrigation system while addressing issues typically highlighted insufficient site drainage. A detail-oriented approach, written to assure that every decision was evidence based resulted in custom walkways that brought caregivers through and into flowering beds, to naturally built intimate gathering areas to increase relaxation, contemplation and connection to the natural world. The result is stunning! What was once a neglected yard is now transformed into a beautiful oasis - a layered pallet that provides collapsing interest throughout the seasons, a fire pit area that encourages a gathering point within the landscape, and lush plantings inviting wildlife. At our end-of-meeting the clients were excited for family good times stated that the new landscape added beauty to the curb appeal, but strongly impacted the quality of the outdoor living experience, too.
