Wooden Deck on a Hill Ganshert Nursery & Landscapes Areas Served: Madison and Neighboring Communities Of Dane County The Wooden Deck on a Hill was an incredible transformation of a challenging hillside property into an outdoor retreat on a beautifully sloped hillside property by Ganshert Nursery & Landscapes. This showcases our focus on quality, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design, meant to elevate the beauty of the site. At the heart of this is a gorgeous multi-tiered wooden deck built with sustainably harvested cedar. This option not only makes it more resilient to the elements but also enhances its natural surroundings. This you can either have more elaborate railings and built-in benches on the deck, which is great for an area where the family is going to gather for an evening under the stars. The slope was one of our biggest problems as we had to grade and stabilize enough so the deck would land structurally sound here. We designed and built a professional draining solution to redirect the run off water originating with the rains and snows, to keep the deck safe and usable in any season. Native plant landscaping with hardy perennials and ornamental grass was also integrated around the deck to provide year-round colour and texture while enhancing local biodiversity. Appropriately selected plants harmonise with the surrounding hillside while giving breath-taking aesthetics to the entire landscape without disturbexisting nature. Overall I was very happy with the finished look and so was the client. Although the wooden deck served as a stunning spot to take in their amazing views, it also represented a large dollar value play for the landowners.
