About This Project

Red house and patio A beautiful transformation that greets you right outside the door from Ganshert Nursery & Landscapes, the 'Red House and Patio' masterfully apes the colorful outside of the client's home in Madison, Wisconsin. We worked closely with the homeowners to create a landscape design that complemented the unique red color of their house while providing additional outdoor function and beauty. The includes a durable, sustainable paver patio constructed from carefully crafted pavers, with a variety of spaces for gathering and leisure. We added an elegant pergola with climbing vines that makes a great shade spot on sunny afternoons, complimenting the patio perfectly. We used a combination of native perennials and ornamental grasses to edge the patio itself, adding month after month of seasonal interest while also enhancing biodiversity. The biggest challenge we had was the grading of the lot due to the slope of the land and the need for leveling needed for the patio. With our extended skills, we tackled the drainage issues with purposeful landscape design that layered the overall look giving depth and dimension to the layout. The end result is an outdoor oasis that feels part of the architecture and part of the landscape. The client was thrilled with the design and aforementioned that the new landscape has quickly become a destination for family and outside entertaining.
