About This Project

Holly Farm by Plantswoman Design Located in the middle of Bainbridge Island, the Holly Farm is an example of the craft and intricacy of Plantswoman Design. We service clients all over Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Poulsbo, Rollingbay, Seattle, Silverdale, Southworth, and Kingston. The was a complete renovation of a two-acre property into a landscape that would emphasize both form and function. The work initiated with planning, as the team worked carefully with the homeowners to determine their vision for the property. One of the challenges was the varying topography of the property steep slopes and rocky outcrops. The design team implemented terraces that used local materials, natural stone, and landscape bed excavations, building retaining walls. Not only did the terraces provide structural features to the landscape, but they also made a striking landscape. In addition to terraces, a large palette of native plants, including hollies, ornamental grasses, and year round perennials, were utilized to make a garden full of color. Permeable pavers that fit rustic style were used in pathways for optimal drainage to help visitors move through the charm of the gardens. The PNW evenings became special as well, with lighting strategically placed to accent editorial features of the landscape. Altogether, the homeowners loved their transformation. Not only did the increase curb appeal, but it created a beautiful aura for family gatherings or simply lounging outside. The hardscaping and lush plantings were all designed to reflect the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. To us at Plantswoman Design Holly Farm was another example of quality making it all worth it - that and the fact, the would inspire and endure.
