South Beach: Coastal Retreat by Plantswoman Design Located on the incredible coast, the Plantswoman Design 'South Beach' landscaping has turned a property into a gorgeous coastal escape. Working in the gorgeous communities of Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Poulsbo, Rollingbay, Seattle, Silverdale, Southworth, and Kingston, we developed a landscape that reflects its unique surroundings. This utilized a variety of native plant species that provide both beauty and durability. The coastal grasses and perennial flowering shrubs, in conjunction with the trees, not only create an eye-catching landscape, but maintain and support local biodiversity. The use of natural stone pathways and patios connects the space to the environment while extending the outdoor space for entertaining and relaxation. A primary challenge in design was working with the steep topography of the site and managing drainage and soil mechanics. Our team skillfully used terracing garden beds to enhance proper drainage and soil stability while maximizing usable land and displaying multi-layered gardens. Utilization of permeable paving materials also lessen runoff and increase sustainable design. The finished result is a beautiful landscape that reflects the Pacific Northwest and provides the homeowners with an extraordinary retreat. From the peaceful sounds of the water features, to the colorful perennial gardens, the 'South Beach' has exceeded expectations and become a beloved retreat.
