The landscape design process began with a vision of a relaxing outdoor space that blends with the gorgeous California coastal community. This landscape features a carefully planned layout that incorporates native drought tolerant plants that promote sustainability, as well as provide an array of color throughout the seasons. Thoughtfully selected materials with consideration to their borderline viability as practical elements was an important factor in enhancing the design. We used decomposed granite pathways native to the region to create a natural flow to the space, while elegant materials such as natural stone walls effortlessly transitioned with the natural topography. Modern drip irrigation not only saves water, but also ensures the flourishing greenery thrives within the desirable Mediterranean climate. During the process of implementation, one of the challenges we faced was elevation changes on the property. The team was able to successfully navigate the changes by implementing tiered garden beds that provided both an eye-catching feature, as well as functional space for planting. As aesthetic and functional additions, we placed boulders throughout the space to provide staging areas and stabilization to the landscape. The outdoor space culminated in a custom outdoor living space. The area features a lovely patio space with sustainable teak furniture design around a stunning fire pit, perfect for enjoying evenings outside together. Ambient lighting designed to shine on landscape features creates a wonderful evening visual experience for family and friends. The final result of the Ventura View Landscape truly exceeded neighboring expectations.
